Was born at Walton in 1899 (it is listed on his Australian enlistment papers that he was aged 25 when enlisting in 1915). He was the son of Earnest William Schollar and Minnie Louisa Schollar. At the time of the 1911 census the Schollar family were living at 1 Park Vale Road, Aintree.
