16th battalion of the Lancashire Fusiliers was the youngest son of Mary and Charles and he was killed in the closing stages of the Great War and is buried at Ors Communal Cemetery near Le Cateau, he was 19 years of age. His name is honoured in St Thomas’s church Melling.
